Hasbro package contents listing Contains; 12 1/2" doll, fashion, pretend computer, boots, hairpick, cassette tape and figure stand (Jem doll with Jemstar earrings not included).
Comments/Trivia
  • Like Raya, Synergy seems to only come on the "knobby wrist"-style body.
  • Unfortunately her unique body colour does get mottled over time, even in NRFB dolls.
Produced Variants So far, I know of dolls marked on their backs with one of the following places of manufacture, and there are slight variations among them:
  • China
To learn more about these body types and slight differences, please see the body variations page.

12 1/2" doll; Long wavy purple hair with purple tinsel strands throughout.  Her face and entire body are purple.  It is not likely that you will ever mistake Synergy for any other Jem doll!

stage fashion (headband); plum lamé with gold elastic in the back.  It is bolted in place and has a plastic strip between the skin and the headband.
  • Mine came with a sticker on the back of her head instructing the owner to remove the bolts and plastic - I would not heed these warnings personally, as the band can cause her forehead to turn pink - the plastic actually protects this from happening.

stage fashion (Bodysuit); black leotard with fabric-painted designs, one aqua blue lamé shoulder, one plum lamé shoulder.
  • The star flash/highlight designs at the intersections of the lines were mistakenly left black - the doll's designer intended them to be white, as seen on her box back.

stage fashion (socks); black stretch-sparkle material, one with aqua lamé cuff, other with plum lamé cuff.

stage fashion (armbands);  black stretch-sparkle material, one with aqua lamé cuff, other with plum lamé cuff.

pretend computer; Thin gold cord, plastic with painted keys/controls, litho of Jem.

boots; Red/Violet. This particular colour came with Synergy only.
  • The Music Is Magic boots are not as flexible as these.
  • Isabelle sent a photo of some really matte Synergy boots! I'm not sure why they are so different.

hairpick; medium pink
cassette tape; White with a purple label with black writing.  Dated 1986,  long JEM theme, instrumental side has no instruments playing the vocal parts.
Side A "Synergy - "JEM Theme" , "Friend Or Stranger", "We Can Change It"
Side B "Synergy- Instrumental"
  • I have seen a black version of this tape, with a paper label and purple writing.

figure standmauve, same colour as Rio's but with a female leg holder

Packaging Variants: A listing of the packaging that Synergy can be found in, that I know of, so far! You may also find it interesting to find out what "H-22", "H-32", and "H-44" means.  Anything in Italics I haven't actually seen but have good reason to believe exists. If you have any photos or information/corrections to share, I'd love to hear about it!

Differences from produced doll (if any)
Hasbro catalogues Synergy in the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue

  # Skin tone looks a bit warmer (less blue)
  # There are some white star/flare designs on her bodysuit that are just black (unpainted) on the produced doll's outfit

Synergy in the 1987 France Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue

  # Her hair is much straighter
  # There are some white star/flare designs on her bodysuit that are just black (unpainted) on the produced doll's outfit
  # The headband looks like a different colour to me

Synergy on the back of the her box (same photo appears on the 2nd year catalogue poster)

  # Her hair is very feathered looking, not quite as loose and wavy as the produced dolls' hair.

Store Catalogues Synergy  in the 1987 Sears Canada Christmas Catalogue.  Looks like like the doll found on store shelves as far as I can tell.
