clapboard: Lime Green with orange stripes, fluorescent orange shiny decal.
  • The name of the playset it came with is the name of the production on the clapboard.
  • Each Video Madness playset came with a specific clapboard.

backdrop: Two-sided brightly coloured cardboard backdrop. One side for "Show Me The Way", the other for "We Can Change It" (? I guess?).
  • The backdrop can only be used on the Star Stage on the "Show Me The Way" side as it's not symmetrical.  I've also had a hard time keeping my backdrop in place as the cardboard is much larger than the Star Stage cover.  It would have been nice if the light clips could have held it in place!
  • Each Video Madness playset came with a specific backdrop.
cassette tape: Has the songs "Show Me The Way", "We Can Change It" and "Jem Theme."  Instrumentals on reverse side.
  • Each Video Madness playset came with a specific cassette.
picture frame: Hot pink with a decal of Rio.
  • Illustration is taken from Rio's "Truly Outrageous" fashion package.
  • This picture frame was to be included with Rock N' Romance Jem
camera:bright lime green, all one piece, made of rubbery plastic.
  • mold was reused in Hasbro's Maxie doll line.
tambourine:  It's quite small (about 1 inch in diameter) made of brittle clear sparkle plastic, star shaped jingles.  The Jem logo is embossed on the skin.
  • It does not shake or make noise.
  • A prototype of the Minx doll is shown holding a tambourine similar to this.
luggage: bright pink with decal on one side.  It opens the same way that Rio's briefcase does.
microphone: Jem hand-held mic, in bright lime green with silver head.
gloves: iridescent thready fibre type.
  • Looks like the fabric from the Broadway Magic top.
boa: Plum faux-fur.
glasses: Clear yellow asymmetrical design.
  • This glasses style is peculiar to this playset.
sticker sheet: Small colourful stickers on a clear background, arrow theme.
  • Each Video Madness playset came with a specific sticker sheet.

Box, liner and inserts not previously noted in Hasbro's box contents above.
*not all playsets came with the same posters and inserts, this is a listing of what I got personally with my playset.
Box: US issue H44 Accessories Made in China, Cassette Made in Hong Kong

Box Liner: White cardboard

Other images of  Show Me The Way (generally unproduced/prototypes/promotional figures) Differences from produced playset (if any)
Box front image (left) is the same as the photo in the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue there is a strange cord attached to the camera, the tambourine is much more opaque and different colours, the sticker sheet shown is not quite the same, the sunglasses are opaque and don't have lenses , Rio's photo is more of an "L" shape, the wrong tape is shown (looks like Aja's) in the small photo.
Video Madness Box back image & Second Year Jem Catalogue Posterthere is a strange cord attached to the camera, the tambourine is much more opaque and different colours, the sticker sheet shown is not quite the same, the sunglasses are opaque and don't have lenses, the wrong tape is shown (looks like Aja's) in the small photo.
The 1987 France/UK Toy Fair Catalogue photoLots of differences! The clapboard is not the correct colours, the tape looks like it has black writing, the camera has no strap, the tambourine is silver (!), the microphone is pink, the sunglasses are opaque and don't have lenses and the boa looks like a flat piece of fun fur.
