Produced Variants So far, I have seen this fashion sold in the following packaging. Since they were all made in China, unless noted elsewhere I don't know if there are any country-of-release related differences or not:
  • US issue 1986 illustrated Smashin' Fashions card. Made In China H22 (fashion featured on this ID page is this issue)
  • US issue 1987 photograph Rio Fashions card.
  • Canadian issue 1986 illustrated Smashin' Fashions card.
  • Canadian issue 1987 photograph Rio Fashions card.
  • European issue 6 language 1986 illustrated Smashin' Fashions card. Made in China H22 (fashion featured on this ID page is also this issue)

white slacks: thin white cotton, pleated in front, has velcro fly and belt loops, cuffs are turned up.
striped T-shirt: soft cotton turquoise with yellow, magenta, purple and green vertical stripes, velcro in back.
belt: Like thick ribbon, dark brown/purple with a gold fabric "buckle" sewn on.  Ends of the ribbon are a bit stiffer to enable them to go through the belt loops.
sunglasses: Rounded lenses/nose area, purple.
  • This sunglasses shape seems to be exclusively for Rio (all rounded edges).  However there are other purple sunglasses in Jem's wardrobe to check the sunglasses ID page to make sure you have the right ones.
  • See a photo of these beside those that I got with my City Lights fashion.
sneakers: Flexible yellow rubber sneakers with circle tread on soles.

Card, liner and inserts not previously noted in Hasbro's box contents above.
*mine is still NRFB, but this is what I can see in the packaging.
Card: European issue 6 language 1986 illustrated Smashin' Fashions card. Made in China H22
Card liner: Hot Pink

Other images of Rappin' (generally unproduced/prototypes/promotional figures) Differences from produced fashion (if any)
1986 Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue and various other sources shows a real metal buckle, or the fabric "buckle" is shaped like one.  There are no sunglasses.  The shoes are mauve sneakers.
The following sources all use the same photograph (shown left)
  • 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair catalogue
  • 2nd year catalogue poster
  • 1987 Rio Fashion card photograph
Looks like the produced fashion.
Illustrations: Hasbro Box art -Sunglasses are blue
-stripes on shirt are more evenly spaced
-belt is not visible.
I don't think it was on the cartoon.
