Video
#4209

Description: Caucasian, long curly yellow-blonde hair in a high ponytail, sedate mauve toned make up.

Known Variations Comments and Fun Facts
  • She has been seen with and without bangs. Taffeta says this may be a Euro/US difference.
  • I have also seen a loose Video with earring holes.  Given that earring holes are fakeable, I'm not sure how genuine this variant is.
  • Her face is pretty similar to the Kenner "Darci" line doll Dana; it is the same mold as fellow Jem dolls Roxy and Kimber. (Thanks to Matt & Rick ("BATGIRL") for the face mold info!)
  • She was one of two dolls that was going to be re-released in the ill-fated year 3 of Jem, according to the 1988 Hasbro Pre-Toy Fair catalogue.
  • Compare Video prototype photos, box art, cartoon form, comic book form and many other incarnations.
  • The back box always says what is contained with the doll.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the doll;
Contains; 12 1/2" doll with stage fashion, pretend video camera with strap, pumps, hairpick, cassette tape and figure stand.

    stage fashion
Her hair ribbon is made of thin gold elastic with a silver mesh and hot pink lace bow attached.
  • Thanks to Thumper for the scan!
  • Pants: yellow with an orange tint, silver lines down the front, velcro closure in the back.

    Sewn version (Left)
    Unsewn version (Right)
Her jacket is made of a thin translucent plasticy-acetate, dark lavender with an iridescent sheen.  2nd Edition Kimber's lapels are made of the same material.  The cuffs are turquoise velveteen, trimmed with blue eyelets, one metal snap closure in front.  The "V" on the lapel is a sticker.

  • It some dolls, the V on the lapel is also sewn on.
  • The jacket itself is also very easily crumpled, ironically the main offender being her belt.
  • The belt is made of thick silver braid, velcroed together with a hot pink vinyl triangular "buckle".

  • This pink plastic is also used on the collar for Set Your Sails and possibly the New Wave Waterbed mattress!
  • Variant- the buckle (it is sewn on) can be "pointing" either way. Which is rarer, I don't know.
  • (Thanks to Marilyn for the top scan)
  • pretend video camera with strap; Since she is a videographer and not a musician, her "instrument" is a video camera.  Hers is lavender with an aqua lens and a thin gold cord.

  • The "Welcome to the Jungle" playset came with a magenta and yellow variation of this camera.
  • pumps  Her shoes are transparent hot pink scalloped pumps.
    hairpick light mauve pink
  • Go to Jem combs to see minute colour differences if you care!
  • cassette tape Tape; Video- "JEM theme, Come On In, She Makes an Impression."
figure stand; It is dark pink and slightly milkier looking.
These stands came with the 2nd editions of Aja, Kimber, Shana, Flash N' Sizzle Jem, Danse, and Video
    NRFB Canadian edition.
  • Box: 2nd year horizontal edged box, has an illustration of Video on the front.
