Comments/Fun Facts Other Versions of this outfit (may contain files larger than 100 kb, click at your own peril!)
  • Released both years
  • A Smashin' Fashion and a Rio Fashion
  • It is named after a Jem song.
  • The image from the 1st year illustrated card for Truly Outrageous is used for the photo of Rio in the Show Me the Way playset.
  • It was featured on the cartoon
  • The photo used in both the first year Jem catalogue poster and the 1986 Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue looks accurate enough, I don't see the pocket lines but it is black and hard to tell.
  • Another photo is used in the 1986 German Leaflet (same photo appears in the 1986 Belgium catalogue) definitely seems to be no pocket lines, the collar is a bit higher.
  • First Year Package Art illustration makes it look kinda shiny, not velvety.
  • The same photo (see left) is used for the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue, the 1987 France/UK Toy Fair Catalogue, the Second Year Jem Catalogue Poster and the Second Year package art, looks very much like the produced outfit.
  • This outfit is shown on the Show Me the Way Video Madness Box front image (same photo used  in the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue Video Madness section) & the Show Me the Way Video Madness Box back image (same image is used on the Second Year Jem Catalogue Poster) the lapels look shinier than the produced outfit's, I'm not sure but there appear to be no pockets either.
  • The back of the box always says what is contained with the fashion.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the it; Contains; Black Tuxedo, dickie with bow tie and sneakers!
    Black Tuxedo
Jacket; Black velveteen, velcro closure in front, sewn on "pockets" (not actual pockets).
Pants; Black velveteen, velcro closure in front.
Dickie with bow tie: Just what it sounds like!
Sneakers, white. They are a bit smaller, and much more flexible/rubbery than the white sneakers that came with Glitter N' Gold Rio. The appear to be the same pattern.
