Comments/Fun Facts Other Versions of this outfit (may contain files larger than 100 kb, click at your own peril!)
  • Second year only.
  • a Rio Fashion
  • It is named after a Jem song.
  • Rio fashions were rather unpopular and not featured in either the French or UK 1987 Hasbro catalogues.
  • All the outfit scans are the contributions of Rhonda Robinson!
  • I don't think it was featured on the cartoon.
  • The same photo (see left) is used for the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue, the Second Year Jem Catalogue Poster and the Second Year package art, the difference being the mesh shirt which seems to be a completely different pattern as well as being white.
  • The back of a card always says what is contained in the fashion.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the fashion.
"INCLUDES: Fishnet T-shirt, jams, tank shirt, visor and boat shoes."
Fishnet T-shirt; It's blue, quite short.
jams (do people really still call them that?); crisp cotton fabric.

  • Jem herself was planned to get shorts similar to thses in 1988, according to the photos in the Hasbro Pre-Toy Fair Catalogue Matching Medley Fashions. The pattern itself also used for a robe.
  • tank shirt; bright yellow ribbed cotton.
visor; It's clear pink plastic (same material as the straps from the Set Your Sails dress.)
boat shoes; Yellow-Orange in colour, have a skinny zig-zag pattern on the bottoms.
