SCALLOPED EDGED PUMPS
You can be pretty certain that if you have a scalloped-edged pump, it belongs to a second year doll or fashion.
They came in three styles: Metallic, Translucent and Opaque, the latter being the most common and difficult to ID.  On top of that, there are also thin edged shoes with wider heels (turn them upside down to see the heels difference) or thick edged shoes with skinnier heels.
Metallic
The scalloped metallic shoes came only with the Glitter N' Gold line of fashions & doll.  They are all gold except for one pair of silver.
Gold
Came with the following ashion(s)
Midnight Magic

Purple Haze
  • darker golds tended to come with the Glitter and Gold fashions and not the doll.

Only two dolls got these really cool see-through shoes.  The ill-fated 3rd year Jem line was to feature more of these kind of shoes (and incidentally, Danse and Video were the only to-be-re-released dolls of that year)
    Orange

    Danse only
    Pink
    Came with the following doll

Try not to get lost in the pinks!  There are minute colour differences between each shade though maybe not readily apparent from the scans.  And besides, it's the little differences that make collecting so much fun, right?... right??!  ^_^ Anyway, THANKS again to Rhonda, who painstakingly looked at all of her shoes for me and gave me a lot of information on the varying shades of pink, among other colours!
Luckily, the thickness of shoes can vary as well, so be sure to check for that, as well as colour to match your shoes properly.

    Designing Woman
  • The only orange scallop-edged shoes.
  • Hot Pink (Left to Right)
Generally going from darkest to lightest.
    1. She Makes an Impression: The easiest of these to ID, it is the most purple of all the hot pink shoes.  Thin sides.
    2. Clash: Thick sides, bluish tone.  Very similar to the shoes from There's a Melody Playin'- Melody being a tad "brighter" looking, slightly more pink.
    3. There's a Melody Playin': Thick sides, I would call it the truest "magenta" of the lot.
    4. Rock & Curl Jem /Second Edition Aja: Thin sides, fluorescent pink.  Very deep, intense colour.
    5. Gold Rush: Thick sides, fluorescent pink. (these came with my personal fashion, Annessa's NRFB one came with thin sided shoes, possibly in another shade)  Imagine RC Jem's shoes with a little bit of baby blue mixed in.  Slightly cooler toned and lighter.
    6. Second Edition Kimber / Fire N' Ice: Are also fairly easy to ID on their own, they are melon shaded (hot pinky/orange)
    Fluorescent Pink (Left to right)

    1. Second Edition Aja: Thin sides, fluorescent pink.  Very deep, intense colour.
    2. Putting It All Together: Aja 2 and R&C shoes are very bright flourescent pink, the PIAT shoes are verging on pastel, they have a definite flourescent pink in them, but its tempered with a healthy dose of blue tones, they are close to being pastel, they blend perfectly with the tights- they are far more obvious in person - the pic doesnt do the difference justice.
    3. Rock n' Curl Jem: Thin sides, fluorescent pink.  Very deep, intense colour.
Thanks to Amplified Heart for this photograph and colour difference explanations!
