Roxy
#4206/4010 Asst.

Description: Caucasian with long white hair with spiky bangs.  She came out both years, basically the same but did have a few little differences- her 2nd year guitar was made of glitter plastic, not opaque plastic with a glitter decal and her stand being slightly milkier looking than her first edition one.

Known Doll Variations Comments and Fun Facts
  • The flame over her eye varies from yellow to spring green, eyebrows can vary from red to maroon, she has come with quite pale skin (the 2nd edition) See a photo of (l to r) 1st edition Roxy, 2nd edition (pale) Roxy and a Superstars Roxy side by side!  Also notice the changes in the outline colour of her eye make up- from nearly blue, to a magenta-purple. (thanks to Valari for this scan)
  • For more differences, check out the page on Mexican Roxy.
  • Her face looks really similar to the Dana face mold, of the Kenner "Darci" line and she shares the same mold as fellow Jem dolls Kimber and Video. (Thanks to Matt & Rick ("BATGIRL") for the face mold info!)
  • Like Stormer, she was named "Rue" for a short period of time.
  • Compare Roxy prototype photos, box art, cartoon form, comic book form and many other incarnations.
  • The back box always says what is contained with the doll.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the doll;
    1st Edition Roxy:
Contains; 12 1/2" doll with stage fashion, musical instrument, pumps, hairpick, cassette tape, two bracelets and figure stand.
    2nd Edition Roxy:
Contains; 12 1/2" doll with stage fashion, musical instrument, pumps, hairpick, cassette tape and figure stand

    stage fashion
Roxy's Pants; My first edition Roxy came with lighter "spray paint" patterned pants, with no slits up the sides, the lamé is also slightly coarser.  (shown left)

My Second Edition Roxy came with much darker, "boomerang" shaped paint splattered pants, with vertical slits up the sides to you could pull her pants on better.

  • Mexican Roxy came with plain silver "pleather" style pants, no slits.
  • I've also seen a lighter version of Roxy's "boomerang pants". (thanks to Isabelle Ronc for this scan.
  • There is also a variant where the waist is elasticized
  • Belt; thin yellow plastic, three silver mylar diamond stickers attached.  These stickers were also used on Stormer's shirt.

  • Mexican Roxy's belt did not have the stickers.  But don't assume if your belt has no stickers it's from a Mexican doll- they are easily pulled off.
  • Roxy's Shirt; Also varies.  They are both sheer royal purple.  Shown at left is the looped cotton threads variant; to the right is the dangly shiny fringe version.  Both my first and second year Roxy's came with the shiny fringes, so it can't be a first year/second year variant.  I got the cotton looped one on a loose doll.
    musical instrument
Plum bass guitar with a gold cord. The one on the left is her first edition guitar.
The Second edition is the same shape, but it is made of sparkly clear purple plastic.

  • Mexican Roxy came with a much darker version of the 2nd edition guitar.
  • pumps; Pastel yellow straight cut came with the first edition Roxy (left).  Fluorescent yellow straight cuts came with the second edition Roxy (right).

  • Several Roxy's came with violet, plum or raspberry coloured shoes.  It seems to be a common thing with European dolls.
  • As a matter of limited interest- my 2nd edition Roxy came with a deformed shoe!  O_O
  • hairpick; my first edition Roxy came with this one.
hairpick; my second edition Roxy came with this one.
cassette tape; Black with green lettering on the label.  Titled "Roxy - "Jem Theme," "Click/Clash", "Takin' It All."  Dated 1985. (Both 1st and 2nd edition versions.
two bracelets; gold spiked "Misfit" bracelets. Pizzazz, Stormer and Roxy (first and second editions) came with these.
figure stand  First edition stand is clear fluorescent yellow.  The first editions of Roxy, Stormer and Pizzazz each came with one.
This cloudier type: The second editions of Roxy, Stormer, Pizzazz and Clash each came with one.

  • Very early prototype of Roxy (originally named Rue).  From Moggygoddess' photos.
  • Completely different doll style, outfit has various obvious differences but hair and make up are largely the same as that of the produced dolls'.
  • More closely resembles Roxy's first incarnation on the cartoon, as this was a photo that Sunbow would have used as a source.
