Comments and Fun Facts |

She has a make up variant,
shown left. The one on the left has a lot more blue eyeshadow than the
one on the right. Also the one on the left's lip colour is more of a Salmon
colour, as compared to the other which are more of a pink colour. Also
even though its kind of hard to tell in the pic the one on the left's Pink
eye makeup touch the eyebrows, and the one on the right come noticeable
below the eyebrows. (thanks to Sophie & Pete B for this discovery and
photo!)
There is also a variant where the blue in her eyeshadow
is mint green.
She can come with a pink cardboard insert in her
box (more common) or a purple one.

She shares the same face mold as Glitter
N' Gold Jem and Flash N' Sizzle Jem, rumoured
to be created as an improvement over the so-called "ugly unsmiling"
1st
year doll.
Since part of Jem's problem was her price (pretty
expensive compared to Barbie) they responded with this doll. No flashing
earrings. No cassette or extra fashion. She was the "cheapie"
doll and is therefore very easy to find nowadays.
Ironically, her hair is nearly impossible to style
or comb, and today the curls are usually either combed out (a painstakingly
long process) or matted and gnarled up.
It appears as though Hasbro was leaning in this direction
for Jem's future, as Rock N' Romance Jem bore
more than a passing resemblance to this doll. :-(
She is the only doll that didn't come with a stand.

The back box always says what is contained with the
doll. The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves
stated came with the doll;
Contains; 12 1/2" doll with stage fashion,
earrings, 2 bracelets, pumps, hairpick, and microphone. |
