| All Jem dolls (and at least some fashions) came with posters.
They were either rolled or folded. Generally, the most popular poster
seems to be either the Glitter and Gold illustrated poster, or the 1st
year Jem doll catalogue poster. There are so many variants, as some
posters had blank backs, or bilingual backs (For instance Canada had to
have French on their posters) or a catalogue on the back and an illustrated
poster on the front, etc., etc. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme
or reason to it, but typically, only Misfits dolls came with the Misfits
Illustrated poster, and the second year catalogue for obvious reasons was
packed only in the second year boxes, though many second year boxes came
with the first year poster (actually, most of my second year dolls had
first year posters...)
USA:
The Posters (they could either be doubled up or have blank backs; many
combinations were possible).
1) First year Jem illustrated poster
2) First year Jem catalogue poster
3) The Misfits Illustrated poster
4) Glitter and Gold Illustrated poster
5) Second Year Jem Catalogue Poster
USA- Non-doll related posters:
-Jem and the Holograms Poster, (specific
to the MTV mail-in fan pack, it is very difficult
to find. Thanks to Shevona
for providing a photo of it!)
International Posters (I haven't finished this
section yet, any new information is welcome). For the most part are
the same as those available in the US, but with translated or extra text.
Canada:
Canadian first year illustrated
poster that is for the most part the same as the US one, the differences
being the TM marking, the "Truly Outrageous" is removed and "Truly Outrageous/Vraiment
Extravagante" is replaced in a different font, and the bottom right corner
says 1986 Hasbro Canada Inc. on it.
Canadian second year catalogue poster was double
sided,
French on one side, English
on the other, I believe the same was true for the 1st year catalogue poster.
Mexico
One sided, of the 1st year artwork,
except says Jem es Fabulosa, instead of Truly Outrageous.
Spain
One sided, of the 1st year artwork,
except says Jem Verdaderamente Fantástica, instead
of Truly Outrageous.
UK or Italy?
Jaze's New Wave Waterbed came with a pecular poster- the typical first
year Jem catalogue poster, but the Rockin' Roadster photo is replaced by
a
Glitter 'N Gold one. (only the affected portion of the poster is shown
in this photo). The box and poster are in English with "1987 Hasbro
Industries (U.K.) Ltd. Wokingham, Berkshire" while the instructions are
in Italian "1987 MB Italy S.R.L. under Berne & Universal Copyright
Convention." - making it a strange UK-Italian combination product.
