Pizzazz
#4204/4010 Asst.
Description: Caucasian doll with long bright fluorescent yellow/green hair, spiky bangs & long in the back.  She came out both years, basically the same but did have a few little differences- her 2nd year guitar was made of glitter plastic, not opaque plastic with a glitter decal and her stand being slightly milkier looking than her first edition one.  There are also differences in her make up/clothes, but they may vary among both years, and may not necessarily be first/second year differences.
Known Variations Comments and Fun Facts
  • Some Pizzazz's, you may notice have a thin layer of clear plastic on their scalps. Why, is unknown, but some have been reported to "bleed" yellow dye- so you may not want to put these dolls in white outfits!
  • See table below for various Pizzazz differences I noticed in my NRFB dolls.
  • Thanks to Corey King, Rhonda Robinson, & Hellebelle for contributing information to this page!
  • Pizzazz shares her face mold with Raya. And you thought Pizzazz couldn't share!
  • Compare Pizzazz prototype photos, box art, cartoon form, comic book form and many other incarnations.
  • Known Variations (my personal dolls)

spiky bangs brushed forward bangs Bangs
Poker straight, nearly down to butt. hair a bit curled (sort of "rounded") in back, mid back length. Hair length

quite obvious, triangular shaped yellow blush. much more subtle blush (still triangular shaped) Blush
    white greyish tinged Teeth
    The back box always says what is contained with the doll.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the doll;
(2nd Edition Pizzazz): Contains: doll with stage fashion, musical instrument, pumps, hairpick, cassette tape and figure stand.

    stage fashion
Dress; Top half is mostly fuchsia spandex with velveteen white tiger print collar trim, under the tiger fabric is another layer of fuchsia lamé.  The attached skirt is made of velveteen white tiger print material with a fuchsia lamé trim sewn on the hem.

  • My first edition Pizzazz has black stitching (attaching the hem), and all purple stitching on the velcro fastener.  My second edition Pizzazz dress has white hem stitching, and purple and white stitching for the velcro fastener on the back
  • Panties; fluorescent yellow slightly ribbed spandex, elasticized waist.  They are yellower and more satiny in texture than the belt and sock.

Made of spandex and match the material and colour of their respective socks.

  • left is my first edition belt, slightly darker green, a bit shorter and curled at the ends. on the right is my second edition belt, a bit more yellow and straight.
  • Oddly enough, Rhonda and Corey's Pizzazz's have these belts reversed- the curly one going on a second edition doll, and the straight on a 1st edition!

  •
Sock; only one, fluorescent yellow-green lycra. Will match belt, but not panties.
  • Shown left is my first edition sock, which is slightly shorter and a tad greener, notice the hem difference as well.  On the right is the second edition sock.  On my dolls, both came with socks on their right legs- it makes sense to me since the dress is shorter on that side.
  • Some Pizzazz's have come with their socks on the left leg. *
  • musical instrument
First edition doll (left): iridescent grey plastic, and is topped with a holographic decal (no one else got one of these!).  Comes with a gold cord.
Second edition doll (right): made of transparent grey glitter plastic & no label (the frets, etc. are printed right on the plastic)
Thanks to Chlokie for the scan of 2nd ed. Pizzazz's guitar.

  • The first edition guitar can have sticker differences in the hologram pattern.
  • Mexican Pizzazz's guitar is blue, not grey.
  •  I'm pretty sure the design has been changed enough to qualify her guitar as being original but it's definitely got shades of  the Warlock by BC Rich.
  • pumps: Gunmetal Grey with an iridescent lavender sheen.
    1. Pizzazz, 2nd edition
Thinner sides. Light will shine through them if held up to a light source. Shinier.  Some Euro dolls 1st edition dolls were sold with these shoes.
    2. Pizzazz, 1st edition
Thicker and paler grey, the iridescent sheen shows more on these shoes.
hairpick; Both editions came with a hot pink comb They do look slightly different, the one on the right is 2nd edition Pizzazz's, the one on the left, 1st ed's. The first ed. one is more purple and the logo sticks out a bit more, for some reason.
  • HellBelle got her 1st edition Pizzazz with a neon yellow one.
  • Cassette tape; black with yellowish lettering. Dated 1985.
Side A "Pizzazz- Jem Theme, Outta My Way, Makin' Mischief.
Side B "Pizzazz - Jem Instrumental"
two bracelets; gold spiked "Misfit" bracelets. Pizzazz, Stormer and Roxy (first and second editions) came with these.
figure stand  First edition stand is clear fluorescent yellow.  The first editions of Pizzazz, Stormer and Roxy each came with one.
This cloudier type: The second editions of Pizzazz, Stormer and Roxy and Clash each came with one.

    Pizzazz in various incarnations
*The following inks are graphic intensive and may feature files over 100KB.  Click at your own peril!

  • Very early prototype of Pizzazz (originally named Pizazz).  From Moggygoddess' photos.
  • Completely different doll style, outfit and make up has various obvious differences.
  • More closely resembles Pizzazz's first incarnation on the cartoon, as this was a photo that Sunbow would have used as a source.
  • Pizzazz and the Misfits in the 1986 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue (it looks like the same doll is modelling the Smashin' Fashions)
  • Pizzazz's lips are much darker, as is her blush, which is nearly orange and very triangular.
  • The strap on her guitar is a lighter gauge
  • She has only one bracelet
  • Her shoes are yellow, her sock and belt also look more yellow than green
  • Pizzazz (and the Misfits) in the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue
  • Looks pretty much how the produced doll looks, I can't see any obvious differences.
  • The Welcome to the Jungle Video Madness Box front image (left) is the same as the photo in the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue and Welcome to the Jungle Video Madness Box back image
  • shows Pizzazz with raspberry toned lip paint.
  • Roxy and Pizzazz in the 1987 France/UK Toy Fair Catalogue (French Shown)
  • She is wearing yellow shoes, her hair looks slightly shorter than normal.
  • Pizzazz, The Misfits, Rio and fashions in the 1986 German Leaflet
  • Pizzazz's make up at it's most extreme!  The blush is definitely an orange triangle on the face more so than blush at this point.
  • The lip paint is also darker.
  • Her guitar doesn't have a decal on it.
