  • Released Both Years
  • An On Stage Fashion
  • There is no song called "Permanent Wave"
  • It was featured on the cartoon
  • The photo used in both the first year Jem catalogue poster and the 1986 Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue shows the jacket to have a much larger/splotchier design, that is also darker.  The netting on the top is more sparse, and I can't tell if there is a jewel on the belt or not.
  • Another photo is used in the 1986 German Leaflet (same photo appears in the 1986 Belgium catalogue): showing the fashion with the sparser netting on the top, larger and darker splotchier jacket and pink shoes.
  • and a 1986 photo in Topolino is a rare early example of the fashion looking pretty much as it was made.
  • First Year Package Art illustrationagain with the sparser netting on the top, larger and darker splotchier jacket and either no belt, or a thinner orange one.
  • The same photo  (see left) is used for the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue, the 1987 France/UK Toy Fair Catalogue, the Second Year Jem Catalogue Poster and the Second Year package art, and it looks pretty much exactly like what was produced.
  • It is one of the outfits featured in the Rockin' Roadster commercial. It may be in other commericals I haven't yet screen captured for this site.
  • The back of a card/box always says what is contained in the fashion.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the fashion.
INCLUDES: Pink and organe (sic) jumpsuit, belt, jacket and pumps.
Pink and orange jumpsuit; hot pink spandex  pantsuit, except the top is not stitched and has a "sweetheart" neckline.  There is an orange mesh, large holed tank top sewn onto the top.

  • Matt has two versions of this jumpsuit, one being a lighter pink than the other.
  • belt; white thick nylon (think backpack straps); has a round orange "jewel" in the centre.
jacket; soft cotton collared jacket, white with fluorescent pink tiger stripes.

  • This distinctive pattern was going to be reused for other clothing pieces in 1988, according to the photos in the Hasbro Pre-Toy Fair Catalogue Matching Medley Fashions.
  • pumps; Orange Straight Edged Pumps.  There are apparently variations among the two years, thanks to Liz here are some nitpicky details:
    1st year: Orange sherbet color; slightly translucent/fluorescent & thick sided;
2nd year: Bright "crayon" orange, Opaque & Thin-sided
1st PW is still darker and more translucent/fluorescent than Up & Rockin', but clearly lighter and less opaque than 2nd PW.  It Takes A Lot and 2nd PW are pretty close in color and intensity.  Lightning Strikes is darker still than 2nd PW.
