Other Jem Stuff (non-book/tape media)

First, let me make clear this section is for *licensed* Jem merchandise only, I'm not really interested in lighters, mouse pads, address labels and snow globes (etc etc) that people have made on their computer to sell on eBay.  Any knock-off items lucky enough to be posted on this site will go either in the knock-offs section or their country of origin. That said...
Jem had a plethora of products licensed by Hasbro, focusing mostly on school items, games, party supplies and grooming.  The following is a list of licensed Jem items I know about that were released in the US or Canada, usually both.  Europe, Australia, South America and possibly other countries had their own unique items, to see information on those, go to International Jem.  I am always interested in hearing about new Jem items, if you have any information to offer, feel free to e-mail me

School Items

Lunchboxes, Snack Packs, Back Packs and Purses.

Lunchkit (Aladdin)
The thermoses are small, color coded to their lunch kit and have the Jem logo on them.  The kits are vinyl & came in two different colours.  The purple one seems to be easier to find.  Rob Brown has sent these photos of a pink prototype with the original thermos art but I don't believe it made it into production.
Lunchkit (Thermos)
Possibly a Canadian exclusive, is in the "dome top" style, as opposed to the "suitcase" style.  The decal on the front is a hologram/flicker-image with Glitter 'n Gold Jem, The original Rockin' Roadster and the 1st year Holograms. The thermos is probably generic, pink.

Snack Pack (SGI)
Small backback with the Glitter 'n Gold Jem logo, dated 1987.  Comes with a matching (but no Jem logo) zippered lunchbag that fits inside the front pocket.
Thermos
With Glitter 'n Gold Jem logo on front, dated 1987, Hasbro Canada.  I have no idea what it is from or if it was just sold as is.

Back Pack

  • Mauve with 1st Year Holograms: The following information is quoted from the catalogue: "Woven nylon backpack features screen print of Jem's group, the Holograms (we've even riveted a plastic guitar to the front).  Top zip, padded adjustable shoulder straps, locker loop. 12 X 13.5 X 3". "
Purses/Bags
  • Round Bag: Quote taken from the catalogue: "Jem screen-printed record-shaped bag is a real groove! Vinyl backed rayon bag has 8" diameter, is one & a half inches deep.  Zip closure.  Attached coin purse has three inch diameter."
  • Tote Bag: Dated 1986. With Shana in the front.

Duffel Bags - see Jem Sleeping Bags.

Stationery Supplies (Spindex)
  • Pop-A-Point crayons
  • Pop-A-Point Pencils - these are mentioned on the back of the Spindex cards, have not yet seen one.
  • Diecut erasers (2 on blister card, star shaped Jem, Triangular shaped Pizzazz)
  • Pencil toppers -these are mentioned on the back of the Spindex cards, have not yet seen one.
  • Pencil Pouch (sold singly and with the School kit below)
  • Ball-point pens
  • Jumbo Erasers (single eraser on blister card, have seen Pizzazz so far, there probably was at least a Jem one as well)
  • Figurine Erasers - So far have seen Pizzazz, Jem, Rio & Aja.  The Jem one was also sold as a cake decoration in the US, and they were also sold in South America. They look like PVC figures, I doubt they actually erase anything!
  • Spindex School Kit, bubble on card, contains
  • Pencil Pouch (pink with Jem standing in front of Rockin' Roadster),
  • Purple Ruler with pink sticker, has pictures of Jem, Aja, Pizzazz and Stormer
  • Purple round pencil sharpener, sticker of Jem on front
  • Pink eraser with sticker of Pizzazz on front

Games & Puzzles

Games (Milton-Bradley) All come with cassettes.  There are 6 songs per tape, all on one side.  The other side has little snippets of the songs (2 seconds of the chorus, for example) so you can use the tapes to play the game.  There aren't any instrumentals on these tapes.  I'm fairly sure all 3 came in both US and Canadian versions; the latter have some French text as well as English on the boxes and instructions.  The songs are not in French.

  • Fashion Flash (yellow box, back); Features re-drawn pics of all the Holograms wearing the first year line of fashions.  Songs on cassette are as follows:

AKA "Wrist Rocks".  The watches were Hasbro products and as such came with Jemstar points, MTV offers, posters and an instruction sheet similar to the dolls and playsets.  They were available in US or Canadian packaging.

a Canadian company, I'm not sure if these items were available in the US or not.  The packaging is in English and French.  Glitter 'n Gold Jem, Rio and Flash N' Sizzle Jem's box art is featured on the cosmetics labels and box backs.  They are dated 1987.  Some items were reused in different sets and sold singly.

Costumes/Child Sized Clothing
