Unproduced Misfits "Balloon" Outfit.
Two of these have shown up recently (as of April 2006) on eBay, this being a revision of an earlier design that showed what appears to be lamé (the pink parts) and more voluminous lace parts.  The bracelets and shoes shown in this photo were added by the owner of the prototype :)

"the pants are made of the same fabric as the aja skirt, the top is made of pink lycra, something like tanb dress or gold rush top lycra top. the black netting top and bow are nothing like the yccm black fabric, it's dotted and the dots have a velvet feel in them. The top is realy well made, it's made of 3 pieces of fabric, the front is one and there is 2 pieces in back. It's closing by a black velcro closure, pants have elastics at waist and both end of legs."

Unproduced "Misfit-Fringe" Outfit.

"Black striped knit dress made of the SAME stiped fabric of there a melody playin' dress (in different colours - ed.). Fringes on sleeve and shoulder, Green lamé fabric at neck with a velvet appliqué. Velvet belt with black velcro closure in back and with another lamé green decoration on the side of the belt. Dress is closing with a black velcro closure."

According to the person who worked on this fashion, the first draft was a tiger print, not stripes. This example is the third made, the first with this striped pattern.

The following are shoes that don't seem to exist otherwise in Jem-dom. Michael got them with his "prototype" dolls.
"What is weird is that each of these shoes can be separated by *TOUCH* !  They feel different from normal Jem shoes.  If you have ever felt the plastic from the parts of a model car kit that is what they feel like.  I have others from the bag with the same feel but they are colours that matched some example on your page.  Still they look like a white shoe that has been coloured because the sole of the shoe has the ase white coming through."
Pranceatron's Note: Sounds to me like small-scale resin cast shoes, probably would have been cast by the sculptor as a colour test.  It also explains the seam, which- if you know much about casting, would make an easier break/less undercuts than those on the factory produced Jem shoes.
Flat grey scallops
Pea Green scallops
"I compared them to my "You Gotta Be Fast" which was the closest match and the YGBF pair is more of a true green and these are just like the colour of pea soup." (Tangerine Roxy, above, is wearing these)
Ivory Bone Straight Edged (notice the mold line down the middle of the shoe, not the sides).
Light Peach Straight Edge (notice the mold line down the middle of the shoe, not the sides).
Ultra Pale Light Lavender Straight Edged  (notice the mold line down the middle of the shoe, not the sides).
Pepto Pink Scallops

I saw this Jem doll on an eBay auction, along with several other unusual shoe colours and such.  The seller bought these dolls from a friend and doesn't have a history for them.  The dress could be dyed, but since it was with a bunch of unusual shoe colours that Hasbro certainly didn't make (and weren't totsy knock-offs, see below) it lends more to the theory that this could have been an early version of the Fire N' Ice dress. (Also notice the hairbow, totally different from the one Fire N' Ice came with and I don't think was used for a Jem doll (pattern wise) but I could be wrong.  The tights may not be Jem related at all.
Beige straight cut shoes (could be sun yellowed white ones?)
White scallop edged pumps. (again, notice the seams down the middle, implying home-cast shoes)

Other shoe colours I saw with the auction were peach straight cut pumps (could have been the ones from Permanent Wave), light green scallops, and some Up N' Rockin tights that were made more of hockey jersey material and pure yellow, not fluorescent - like those shown in the German leaflet.

Wax castings: Early stages in Jem's development, as well as hints of things to come!
A test shot of Rama Llama with yellow fur!

Thanks to RHC for this photo and info about it:

"...someone I had bought a rama llama off of told me they had been emailed by a maker of the Rama and she gave me their email.  I've since lost it but I contacted her and she sent me these pics and told me how the fur was used to test out the llama and ultimately they decided on pink (no surprise)."
