Music In the Air
Comments/Fun Facts Other Versions of this outfit (may contain files larger than 100 kb, click at your own peril!)
  • First Year Only
  • A Flip Side Fashion
  • It was not named after a Jem song
  • Music in the Air; and the other Flip Sides in the 1986 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue (see left) The belt looks like a functioning belt (not velcro) and the glasses are not shown, otherwise looks about right.
  • Music in the Air in the 1986 German Leaflet (same photo appears in the 1986 Belgium catalogue): no belt or glasses, looks a bit redder.  The pattern on the jacket looks a little different but it's hard to tell.
  • Other than the belt buckle, the drawing of Music In the Air on the 1986 Flip Side Fashions box art is nearly spot on.
  • The Second Year package photograph of Music in the Air, (the same photo is used for the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue, the 1987 France/UK Toy Fair Catalogue, the Second Year Jem Catalogue Poster) looks like the produced version.
  • Body suit; Plum spandex, velcro in back, dips down in the middle front.
  • There is a variant, with vertical stitching on the bodice, to make it hold up better, presumably.  Possibly a second year-run improvement?  Thanks to Damian for the scan and information!
  • The Music in the Air bodysuit is quite a bit darker and has longer legs than the bodysuit from Only the Beginning.

  •
Pants; crisp cotton, bright canary yellow, velcro closure in back.
