Comments/Fun Facts Other Versions of this outfit (may contain files larger than 100 kb, click at your own peril!)
  • 2nd Year Only
  • Video Madness Playset
  • Set is named after a Jem song (which not coincidentally is on the tape included with the playset)
  • Video Madness Box front image (left) is the same as the photo in the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue: shows masks with different molds (the way the elastic attaches would be different), they are also opaque. The gloves and tie are shown to have pink splotches on the yellow parts, the sticker sheet shown is not quite the same.  The watch face is white and appears to be blank. The site is called the "Love is Doin' It to Me" playset; on the smaller photo in the corner, you can see the clapboard has the song title is "Love is Doin' It To Me".
  • Video Madness Box back image is the same as the one on the Second Year Jem Catalogue Poster: shows masks with different molds (the way the elastic attaches would be different), they are also opaque. The gloves and tie are shown to have pink splotches on the yellow parts.  The watch face is white and appears to be blank.
  • The 1987 France/UK Toy Fair Catalogue (French Shown) has it's own photographs: Clapboard colours are right but decal is missing, watch is missing face, masks have different molds (the way the elastic attaches would be different), they are also opaque, no gloves are shown, tie has splotches on the yellow fabric, no cord on the keyboard, tape's writing is too small to be the correct one, there is a die-cut Jem logo sticker (?) included.
  • The back of a box always says what is contained in the playset.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the playset.
INCLUDES: clapboard, backdrop cassette tape, 2 stage lights, doll watch, keyboard, picture frame, microphone, necktie, gloves, face mask, eye mask, and sticker sheet.
clapboard;  The name of the playset it came with is the name of the "Production" on the clapboard.  Bright orange with pink decal.
  • All VM playsets came with one.
  • Cardboard backdrop, side 1
    Cardboard backdrop,  side 2.
Cassette tape; Has the songs "Love is Here, Can't Get My Love Together," and "Jem Theme."  Instrumentals on reverse side.
2 stage lights (only one shown); Identical.  Plastic.
doll watch; Well, the proportions are a bit off, but nevertheless an interesting Jem item!
  • This watch in green is listed in the Hasbro Pre-Toy Fair Catalogue Matching Medley Fashion Accessories.
  • It's also recycled for the Maxie towline.
  • Keyboard; cord is the same as the one from Video's camera.
Picture Frame; Illustration is taken from Rio's "Rappin'" illustrated fashion card.
Microphone; Raspberry pink with painted silver head.
  • this mic also came with Flash N' Sizzle Jem.
  • Necktie; Rio's accessory.  Made of spandex, the same fabric as the gloves.
Gloves (or armbands, if you prefer.);  It's made of spandex, the same fabric as the necktie.
Face Mask; It's semi-transparent, I believe the same plastic as 2nd Edition Kimber's keyboard.  It looks very spooky on Jem dolls!  It's held on by a pink elastic, shown at the bottom of this page.
  • Jason, eat your heart out!  This is one of the coolest Jem accessories I've seen.
  • Eye Mask; It's semi-transparent, I believe the same plastic as 2nd Edition Kimber's keyboard.  It's held on by a pink elastic, shown at the bottom of this page.
Sticker Sheet; Not sure what these are for, but you can bet they are near impossible to find in a non-mint/NRFB set!
     not listed on the box.
Elastics;  Bright pink.  They are used to hold on the masks.
