Comments/Fun Facts Other Versions of this outfit (may contain files larger than 100 kb, click at your own peril!)
  • Released both years
  • A Smashin' Fashion
  • There is a Jem song called "Let the Music Play"
  • It was featured on the cartoon & Opening Credits
  • The photo used in both the first year Jem catalogue poster and the 1986 Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue  shows the outfit with purple tights and straight-cut pumps; as well the purple parts of the dress and hairbow look more reddish, the netting on the skirt and hairbow look more yellowish and are a slightly different pattern.
  • Another photo used in the 1986 German Leaflet,  (same photo appears in an issue of Topolino, and again in the 1986 Belgium catalogue): the dress trim appears to be more yellow, the tights are yellow, and the shoes are yellow straight cut pumps.  The hairpiece looks a bit larger to me too.
  • First Year Package Art illustration looks pretty much exactly like what was produced, except the tights are shown to be green.

  • The same photo (see left) is used for the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue, the 1987 France/UK Toy Fair Catalogue, the Second Year Jem Catalogue Poster and the Second Year package art, looks like the produced outfit.
    The back box always says what is contained with the doll.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the doll;
Contains; green dress, flower hairpiece, tights and sandals.
green dress; Lime green spandex, dropped waist with attached purple lamé band and flower decoration.  Attached skirt is lime green mesh with polka dot pattern, jagged, diagonal hem.  Straps are thin lime green ribbon, velcros in back.
flower hairpiece; Three flower shaped layers, bottom layer, purple lamé. top two layers are lime green mesh with polka dot pattern.  Scan courtesy of Rhonda Robinson.
tights; Fluorescent Yellow matte stretch tights, elasticized waist.

  • Mine (from a 2nd year Canadian fashion) are the same fluorescent yellow as those from Designing Woman.
  • Rachel's Designing Woman came with the "most" fluorescent yellow tights, and her 2nd ed. Let The Music Play fashion came with a yellow colour somewhere between Designing Woman's, and Just Misbehavin'.
  • Some may have come with the same tights as Just Misbehavin'.  Could be a year variation?
  • see the yellow tights page for differences.
  • sandals; Lavender Open Toed Heeled Sandals.
  • This fashion has also been spotted with pink shoes that are a deeper pink/purple hue than those from Gettin' Down to Business.  Thanks to Jaze for the photo & information on that!
  • NRFB US edition, 2nd year photo card
  • Card- 2nd year Misfits card
  • This page was compiled with my NRFB US issued fashion as a source. For more information on boxes, and the stuff included in them, please go to Jem Ephemera.
