Comments/Fun Facts Other Versions of this outfit (may contain files larger than 100 kb, click at your own peril!)
  • Released both years
  • A Smashin' Fashion
  • It is not named after a Jem song.
  • It was featured on the cartoon
  • The photo used in both the first year Jem catalogue poster and the 1986 Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue  shows the outfit with straight sided pumps in lieu of sandals; the belt is shown to be yellow.  The skirt may be satin, it's difficult to tell.
  • Another photo used in the 1986 German Leaflet,  (same photo appears in an issue of Topolino, and again in the 1986 Belgium catalogue): the skirt definitely appears to be a satiny material.  The belt is still yellow, there are no tights and the shoes are yellow straight cut pumps, not sandals.
  • First Year Package Art illustration also shows a satin-y material for the skirt and a yellow belt.

  • The same photo (see left) is used for the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue, the 1987 France/UK Toy Fair Catalogue, the Second Year Jem Catalogue Poster and the Second Year package art, looks very much like the produced outfit.
The back of the box always says what is contained with the fashion.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the it; Contains; black "leatherette" jacket, skirt, bandeau top, belt, tights and sandals.
black "leatherette" jacket: Bomber-style jacket, baggy sleeves, rolled cuffs.

  • I've seen them in varying degrees of smoothness, some are pretty dimpled up, others are smoother.  Shown left is a smoother version of the jacket, here's a close up of one with slightly rougher texture. (thanks Bradford for both of these photos)
  • There is also a black lined version of the jacket, thanks to Isabelle for the photo.
  • Skirt; Similar to the one from She Makes an Impression in style, with velcro in the back, made of shiny black threads.  Has two slits in the front. One of the rare black Jem clothing items!
Bandeau top; fitted gold lamé, velcros in back.
Belt; Copper with a square silver fabric "buckle"
  • The copper foil is backed with material, it's quite stiff and stays in place well.
  • One may notice tiny puncture marks along the length of the belt, which is the result of it being sewn to the card.
  • Scan and info courtesy of Rhonda Robinson.
  • Tights; Yellow matte stretch tights, elasticized waist. See a picture of the yellow tights side by side to tell the difference.  They are the most pure yellow of the Jem tights, 2nd Ed. Aja's are more orange, and those from Designing Woman and Let the Music Play are fluorescent.
Sandals; pure yellow sandals; They are not as dark as those from Let's Rock This Town.  They are not fluorescent yellow like those from Outta My Way.  Go to Jem's sandals and boots to see pics side by side.
