Jetta
#4214

Description: Caucasian doll with long straight black hair with silver tinsel strands.

Known Variations Comments and Fun Facts
  • Like Clash, she can be found with the back of the head being painted, but bald, with no punch holes.
  • The eyebrows can be larger or smaller
  • The last Misfit.  She doesn't even appear in the picture on the back of her box!  Her cassette is the only one marked 1987.  It is likely she was the last "Jem" sized doll produced.
  • Ironically, she was not sold in the UK.  Neither was she sold in France. It's likely she did not get any European distribution.
  • Her face is pretty similar to the Kenner "Darci" line doll Erica; it is the same mold as fellow Jem dolls Clash & Danse.
  • Compare Jetta prototype photos, box art, cartoon form, comic book form and many other incarnations.
  • The back box always says what is contained with the doll.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the doll;
Contains; 12 1/2" doll with stage fashion, pretend saxophone, hairpick, pumps, cassette tape and figure stand.

    stage fashion:
Shirt; a sleeveless black cotton tank top with white fabric painted polka dots, velcro closure in back, large triangular silver tabard in front (attached to shirt) with a dangly black fringe.
Black cotton mini skirt, elasticized waist, white fabric-paint polka dot design (matches top).
  • This distinctive pattern was going to be reused for other clothing pieces in 1988, according to the photos in the Hasbro Pre-Toy Fair Catalogue Matching Medley Fashions.
  • White and black cotton vertically striped capri-length pants

  • (this is where Hasbro went wrong with Jetta's outfit I think.  She'd have looked much better with fishnet tights or something! But hey, it was the '80's...)
  • Belt; a long strip of white velveteen fabric with black Dalmatian print pattern

  • same material is used for the Gimme Gimme Gimme minidress.
  • This distinctive pattern was going to be reused for other clothing pieces in 1988, according to the photos in the Hasbro Pre-Toy Fair Catalogue Matching Medley Fashions.
  • pretend saxophone; black plastic with a silver cord.
    hairpick; dark pink
  • Compare to other Jem hair picks.
  • pumps; black scalloped edged pumps.
  • The only Jem doll/fashion that came with this colour!
  • cassette tape; Jetta; Black with white lettering, dated 1987.  This is the only Jem cassette with this copyright year.
