Jem Tapes

They are pretty easy to identify on their own, as most are clearly marked with the name of the doll/video madness playset/game they came with.  But why not have an ID page for them anyway? ^_^

DOLLS

Most Jem dolls were sold with a cassette.  Exceptions include: The Starlight Girls, 1st Edition Jem and Rock N' Curl Jem. All doll tapes have 3 songs, 1 of which is the JEM theme (or Glitter N' Gold Jem theme if you have a Glitter N' Gold tape).  The other two songs are by the band they belong to, basically (Though Stormer has a Jem song, Roxy and Aja have a split Jem/Misfit song).  The other side is the instrumental side, so you can Karaoke along with your tapes!  Some Jem themes are done with a guitar or sax playing the vocal track, others aren't (usually 1985 tapes have it, 1986 ones are a truer karaoke).  Sound quality varies from barely listenable (usually high/tinny sounding) to pretty darn good :) I've found the first runs of tapes tend to be among the worser, and maybe not surprisingly the Misfits 1st year tapes seem to be especially bad.  The Jem theme itself is different on a bunch of the tapes, some have a shorter theme, and some have instrumentals with a guitar "playing" the vocal track, others have a sax playing the vocal track, and others have no "vocal" track at all, not sung or played by an instrument.

    Mexican Tapes
(Right now, the Spanish sung Mexican tapes)  There have got to be more than just these few ^_^ The songs are dubbed/titled in Spanish and came with the Mexican Dolls.
    Roxy, Mexican.
The songs included are the Spanish versions of the Jem theme, Click/Clash, and Takin' it all (just like her regular tape).
    Tape says:
Jem, Roxy "Tema de JEM" "Click/Clash" "Llevatelo"
    Lado A (Side A)

  • Shana, Mexican.
They are the same songs as appear on 1st edition Shana's tape in the US:  Jem Theme, Gettin' Down to Business, Too Close, except with Spanish lyrics. Note the date is 1986, NOT 1985, as a US 1st edition tape is dated.

    German Tape
Onkel Ben Berichtet Aus Amerika / Uncle Ben reports from America
The German dolls' tapes appear to be the same as those included with the US sold dolls.  This however, is a totally different story- this tape was a promotional offer, likely limited to Germany.  It appears to be the tape offered on the back of the German pamphlet as well, one could get it by sending in Jemstar points.
The gist is Uncle Ben coming home from a trip to the US, where he met Jerrica, Eric and the Misfits, and is even privy to Jerrica's secret identity.  He then goes on to explain that the Jem dolls, fashions and playsets are available in Germany to buy.
