Spain

Jem Verdaderamente Fantástica
It appears that there was only one run of the dolls.  It still remains to be seen if there were fashions or playsets made.  Packages are in Spanish, and say Made In Valencia, Spain by MB España.  (They retain the Hasbro logo on the front of the box). Interestingly, mine was bought in Chile- which gives me the impression that they were not only available in Spain, but South America, and possibly Mexico and Central America as well.  As with Mexican made dolls, there is the theory that other markets outside the US were allowed to sell the (presumably cheaper) non-Hong Kong/China made dolls.  So it's possible they could have been imported by any country that had a desire for them.  Since I only own one Spanish made doll, I can't really tell you about the entire line!

A sample of some interesting differences:

  • The bodies are very distinguishable in that the back will read "Made In Spain".  My Jem/Jerrica had arched feet as well.  Otherwise they resemble Hong Kong/Chinese dolls.
  • Most of the fabrics/clothes that I've seen look to be very similar or the same as Hong Kong/Chinese dolls.
  • The instruments & combs have some differences
  • The shoes are *very* peculiar, in that they have a rubbery texture, quite squishy!
  • 1st Ed. Jem/Jerrica also comes with a cassette.
  • So far, I only have one doll I can tell you about:
    Spanish Jem/Jerrica

Thanks to Laura (Badgerprincess) and Taffeta I have some information and pictures of the following:
    Spanish Pizzazz
    Spanish Kimber

I have seen the following dolls, check Totally Jem for more info and pics on them!
    Spanish Stormer
    Spanish Roxy
    Spanish Shana
    Spanish Aja
I do not know if Spanish Rio exists.

The Show:   The Show: I do not know if Jem aired in Spain.  There exists a Spanish Jem dub that was aired in Mexico.  I am not sure if they would use the same dub in Spain.
Other Jem Items:  I don't know of any yet, any information is welcome!
