Australia & New Zealand

From what I can tell, it looks as though Australia and New Zealand probably shared a lot of their exclusive things (videos, books, etc.).  I have yet to find out if anything is exclusively one or the other, therefore they are listed together here.

This section is under constant construction and any information is welcome!

NEW ZEALAND
The Show: "the series when it played in nz in 1987 it played it's whole run apart from episode 65, In 94 when it returned to tv, it played the whole 3 seaons except for episode 65. ( they must have had something against ep 65)." (thanks Rach for the quoted info.).  Lynda mentions that she rented a Jem video before they were aired on television.
Hasbro's Toyline
  • One contributor to this section says all her dolls and fashions were imported and either came in US (second year items) or UK boxes.  Hasbro was known as Milton Bradley in New Zealand, at least during Jem's reign.  The dolls seem to have come out about a year later respectively in New Zealand (so the '86 stuff would have become available in '87)
  • While there may not be New Zealand-made/assembled dolls, there is at least one thing particular to them- at least some of the 1st ed Jem/Jerrica dolls came with a large sticker on the front of the box offering a free Onstage fashion to all those who entered, as well as a chance to win the rest of the Jem line, including the 3 Holograms, Rio, the 3 Misfits, a complete set of fashions, the Rockin Roadster, Star Stage and Rock Backstager. It was only if you bought Jem/Jerrica, so I'm guessing she wasn't included in the prize.  The skill testing question?  "Jerrica's stage name is ____." ^_^  (thanks Lynda for this photo and info!)
  • Jetta was available there (she wasn't in the UK)
  • Stacey Rew of New Zealand says her 2nd ed Shana's "pant-suit had a either purple, yellow or blue top and the pants may have been red but they were not pink. Her hair bow was a plain red. Her earings were plain hoops and were yellow." Hmm!
  • Lynda also made mention that the dolls were not available there until 1987 and were still being sold through the end of 1988.
  • The New Zealand 1988 Hasbro distributor catalogue had everything the US 1987 catalogue had, except for the 2nd Year Rio fashions, New Wave Waterbed, KJEM, the Starlight Girls and Synergy; but as everything (I know of, anyway) so far has been imported from other countries it didn't seem to have any effect on the availability of these items in New Zealand.
  • Other Jem Items
-Paint with Water book (not sure if it differs from the US one)
    -Bubble Bath
    -Talc
    -probably more toiletries

Videos: Some titles seem to be the same as Australian ones (see table below) so I am not sure if these are exclusively New Zealand items or not.  Note that videos have names of shows that never actually appeared on the tape in some cases, &/or are completely different from the US titles of the same name.  Videos come in clamshell cases with a slip of paper serving as the front and back images.  This is still a section that needs some work, so not all information (especially about episodes)  may be accurate.  The following have been confirmed by a contributor (Rach):
