Comments/Fun Facts Other Versions of this outfit (may contain files larger than 100 kb, click at your own peril!)
  • Second year only.
  • a Rio Fashion
  • It is named after a Jem song.
  • Rio fashions were rather unpopular and not featured in either the French or UK 1987 Hasbro catalogues.
  • All the outfit scans are the contributions of Rhonda Robinson!
  • probably the easiest Jem fashion to find NRFB.
  • It was featured on the cartoon.
  • The same photo (see left) is used for the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue, the Second Year Jem Catalogue Poster and the Second Year package art, looks like the produced fashion to me!
  • The back of the box always says what is contained with the fashion.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the it; Contains; Jumpsuit, belt and boat shoes.
Jumpsuit: Wildly patterned cotton/poly one- piece jumpsuit.

  • This distinctive pattern was going to be reused for other clothing pieces in 1988, according to the photos in the Hasbro Pre-Toy Fair Catalogue Matching Medley Fashions.
  • All I can say is... What kind of mood would you have to be in to wear this?
  • belt: Purple lamé, with velcro closure, dark pink lamé triangular "buckle".

  • The one shown has hemmed edges & is purple on the back and front. There is a variant with just a thin strip of purple lamé (no hem, it's not doubled over so the backing is just white)
  • boat shoes: Dark Purple Rio shoes with zig-zag pattern on the soles.
  • NRFB US edition, 2nd year photo card
  • Card- Rio Fashions photo card
  • insert- Hot Pink
  • This page was compiled with my NRFB US issued fashion as a source. For more information on boxes, and the stuff included in them, please go to Jem Ephemera.
