Flash 'N Sizzle Jem/Jerrica

Description: Long platinum blond hair with pink streak in the back, the pink is a lot lighter on my doll than any other Jem, unsure if that's typical of her.  It is usually styled in a flip. She's differentiated from all other Jem dolls in that she is smiling, has blinking earring and no tinsel in her hair.
Known Variations Comments and Fun Facts
  • She shares the same face mold as Glitter N' Gold Jem and Rock N' Curl Jem, rumoured to be created as an improvement over the "ugly" unsmiling 1st year doll.
  • In many countries outside the US/Canada, she is called Rock N' Flash Jem.

    The back box always says what is contained with the doll.  The bold words in my descriptions are what Hasbro themselves stated came with the doll;
Contains; 12 1/2" doll with stage fashion, Jerrica fashion, hose, 2 pairs of pumps, bracelet, hairpick, sunglasses, microphone, cassette tape, batteries and figure stand.  (Office accessories not included.)

    stage fashion
Dress; gathered spandex bodice with attached jagged hem two-layered skirt; blue spandex material on bottom, iridescent lace net on the top (reminds me a lot of the Command Performance dress). Blue with iridescent ties keep it up and in place.
  • Has been spotted in Australia with a fluorescent green skirt (thanks Lucy for that info)
  • Hair bow; made of same irredecent material that is used on dress overskirt and ruffle. It can be thick or thin.
  • Thanks to "Riot-etc" for the pic!
  • Jerrica fashion;  Soft cotton bright yellow hooded mini dress with rolled sleeves, with raspberry paint splash design.  Fairly cheaply made with an unfinished hem, slit on one side.
hose; Silver threaded zig-zag tinsel hose.
    2 pairs of pumps
Fluorescent Yellow (slightly transparent), same ones that came with Raya
Light Raspberry Pink; they are lighter and more flexible that those from Rhythm and Flash and Rock N' Roses.
bracelet; same as 1st Edition Jem's except in fluorescent yellow with a silver stone.
    hairpick Fluorescent Pink

Flash 'n Sizzle Jem on her box back and sides (basically the same photo that's used  in the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue (except reversed) and the2nd year catalogue poster)
  • Most obviously amiss are the weird satin-y loafers, that are basically drawn on her :)  The 2nd year catalogue poster (which is otherwise identical) shows her in yellow sandals.
  • Her eyebrows are rather dark compared to my doll, the white of the teeth is a bit wider too (the lipstick isn't on the "teeth" at all, like it is on the doll) otherwise the make up is essentially the same.
  • Flash 'n Sizzle Jem illustration (on the box front)
  • As usual the pink in the hair is much darker than it is on the doll.
  • The stone in her bracelet is pink, not clear
  • Flash 'n Sizzle Jem models the Flip Side Fashions (The same photos are used for the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue, the 1987 France/UK Toy Fair Catalogue, the Second Year Jem Catalogue Poster and the Second Year package art
  • Again, just the darker eyebrows and more teeth showing, otherwise she looks like the produced doll.
  • The Star Stage  page in the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue
  • Missing her hairbow, her hair is styled in a way that would not allow for one
  • She's wearing a silver bracelet, like 1st Edition Jem's.
  • Again, someone fiddled with the picture and drew pumps over her feet.
  • New Wave Waterbed page  page in the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue
  • Top photo; Missing her hairbow, her hair is styled in a way that would not allow for one, and wearing the silver bracelet
  • Bottom photo; wearing a silver bracelet.
  • KJEM  page in the 1987 US Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogue
  • Wearing a silver bracelet, has the funky "drawn on" shoes again.
  • Rock 'n Flash Jem/Jerrica in the 1987 France/UK Toy Fair Catalogue (French Shown).
  • Her hair looks more mullet-y than usual
  • darker eyebrows, but has the same lip paint (smaller amount of "teeth" showing).
  • Hairbow is pink net
  • Bracelet is a thin, yellow zig-zag style
  • Jerrica's sunglasses are not the square kind, but the more triangular shaped lenses style
  • The MIB doll shows the Jerrica hoodie outfit to be plain yellow - no splotches, she is also wearing a silver bracelet.
  • Video Madness and New Wave Waterbed page in the 1987 French/UK Toy Fair Catalogue (French Shown)
  • She is wearing two yellow thin zig-zag bracelets, and the pink net hairbow, has the darker eyebrows/smaller amount of "teeth" showing lip paint
  • Rock Backstager and Star Stage pages in the 1987 French/UK Toy Fair Catalogue (French Shown)
  • darker eyebrows, but has the same lip paint (smaller amount of "teeth" showing)
  • no hairbow
  • Bracelet is a thin, yellow zig-zag style
  • Flash N' Sizzle Jem in the 1987 Sears Canada Christmas Catalogue.  Pretty much looks like the doll you'd get.
